Sing (2016) English Movie Short Review

No prizes for guessing that its an animal world out there, and Buster Moon, the koala comes up with one last attempt to revive his dilapidated theatre. He announces a singing competition, which brings a host of prospective singers scurrying to his stage.

‘Sing’ impresses on account of its characterization, and of the singers, I hold a very soft spot for the big eyed gorilla Johnny (Taron Egerton), who rushes off his rehearsals every now and then to assist his dad in robbing a bank or two. There is also Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), the piggie, who has hesitantly left twenty five piglets back home with her apathetic husband.

And there is Meena (Tori Kelly), the shy elephant girl, who loses her beautiful voice when she finds herself on stage. When she finally casts away her fears, and breaks into the awesome ‘Dont You Worry ’bout a Thing’, ‘Sing’ underlines what it has been trying to state.

‘Sing’ does not talk of anything remarkably fresh, and its ultimately a film that exhorts you to follow your dreams. The predictability sullies down the affairs a bit, and yet, the likeability of most of its characters will have the viewer sailing peacefully through.

Verdict: Decent Fare
