After Porn Ends (2012) English Documentary Short Review

If you ever wondered what happens to those faces on porn and where they actually disappear after a career that lasts often for barely a couple of years, Bryce Wagoner’s documentary has a few answers. Focusing on a few highly popular porn stars who are way past their heydays, Wagoner examines what it means to have a life after porn.

It’s a mix of artists that Wagoner chooses for his film, and it ranges from a regretful, almost bashful Crissy Moran to a matter-of-fact Houston who finally seems and sounds to have got her cards right. There is a super confident Randy West who puts across a very self-assured male voice, and there is also William Margold, the super porn actor – director who delves deep into what it means to be in what is often perceived as one of the sleaziest of businesses out there.

Of all the interactions that the director lays out, the one with Raylene turns out to be the best, with the actor divulging on a life that was almost turned upside down by drugs and sex, chuckling often on some of the lighter moments. She does break down eventually, and while the men walk away poised, it becomes quite palpable that for women, life would never be the same again.

Verdict: Worth a Watch
