Sufiyum Sujathayum (2020) Malayalam Movie Review – Veeyen


‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ achieves just about half of the dramatic intensity that it originally sets out to attain, and would be remembered best for the mellifluous musical score by M Jaychandran and some remarkable cinematography by Anu Moothedath. Not denying its impeccable visual quality, ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ comes across as a monotonous succession of scenes that strive to blow the dust away from its worn-out theme in vain.

Mamangam (2019) Malayalam Movie Review – Veeyen


Despite the very obvious passion that it holds for the genre, M Padmakumar’s ‘Mamangam’ is miles away from the estimable cinematic piece that it could have been.  With a tightened format and a focused script, this is a film that could have been as magnificent a fest as ‘Mamangam’ must have been, but which goes up in flames despite an exorbitant budget and a stellar cast.

Aami (2018) Malayalam Movie Review – Veeyen


Kamal’s ‘Aami’ falls short of the requisites of an elegant biopic by a mile, and plays along like an unimaginatively scripted radio show, never really drawing you in, and never really letting you leave either. There is little of that captivating life that had enamored us here, or even less of the angst and authenticity of the woman who had chosen to live and love on her own inimitable terms.
