‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ is a laborious endeavour that despite all its good intentions fails to hit the bull’s eye. This is a film that you anticipate would let out a high sounding roar, but which ends up delivering a strenuous whimper instead.
‘Aabhaasam’ is a scathing lampoon on the disgruntlement – social, political, religious and sexual – that underlies a literate society, and is a daring overnight drive to where we stand today. It holds fast to none of the conventionalities that one would expect of a commercial pot-boiler and truly living up to its title tosses cinematic decorum right into the drains.
‘Oraayiram Kinakkalal’ lives on material that has pretty much exhausted itself long back, and strikes you as a wasted opportunity more than anything else. The actors deserve better, and so does the audience, since these are dreams and plans gone awry in unimaginably slapdash ways.
