‘Oruthee’ is not just a didactic tale of a victory over adversity, but rather an evocative and emotional journey of a woman who like thousands of others like her in the real world, steers steadfastly across hardships, uncertainty, emptiness and despair. It is an intricate theme that taps into a universally human condition and which even transcends across nation, gender and race.
There is a short epilogue of sorts that follows ‘Praana’, that affirms that what we have watched is a fictional depiction of the reality around, and reminds us that life, after all is a bit too precious. No worries there. We are gonna pull along hopefully, despite a shaky start to the new cinematic year with an offbeat, and sadly off-track ‘Praana’.
Even if you choose not to pay heed to the believability factor, ‘Careful’ remains resolutely rooted in mawkish mediocrity. It hosts a promising idea that is mostly lost in execution, and comes across as a hurriedly scripted didactic film on traffic rules.
